Choose Carefully When In Need Of A Car Accident Lawyer
I was recently involved in an automobile accident. I was minding my own business, parked in my Honda, quietly saying good bye to my girlfriend. The moment after she left the car (thank God that it wasn't a moment earlier), I was struck from behind by a drunken driver. Nonetheless, the accident took a lot out of me, and my medical bills were expensive. I knew that I needed the car accident lawyer to get the justice that I deserved, and the financial compensation that I needed.
As it turned out, getting just, even with my car accident lawyer, was an uphill battle. The old adage that you can't fight city hall applies almost as well to the servants of city hall. My car accident lawyer was severely hampered by the fact that the judge and the guy who had hit me were personal friends. Only the threat of public exposure finally resulted in the judge reusing himself in favor of someone who could be a bit more objective. When a new judge was finally assigned, my car accident lawyer was quite pleased. It seemed that this one had a much better reputation for fair dealings.
I learned later that I had proceeded wrongly in selecting a car accident lawyer. Just picking one out of the phone book, for lack of any real information about which car accident lawyers are good and which are bad, I had lucked out and came upon a good one. If I had been less lucky, things could have turned out much differently. I should have known that not every car accident lawyer who advertises is competent or honest, but at the time I was much too desperate to think clearly. Fortunately, everything worked out alright, and now I am back on my feet again.
